Commencement Information | Graduation 2018
THE GRADUATION CEREMONY was held Friday, June 8 at 4:00 pm in the VVC gymnasium. Graduates gathered at the Adapted PE Building (#70) in preparation to line up and march into the gymnasium. Graduates arrived by 1:45 pm for the ceremony. Graduation kickoff began May 2 with the Grad Faire. Grads could sign up for graduation, pick up their tickets, purchase regalia and order announcements beginning May 2 and any day afterward until 5:00pm on May 31st (deadline).
CAPS AND GOWNS could be purchased beginning May 2, 2018 in the RAMS Bookstore. The Bookstore hours are Monday/Tuesday : 8:00 am - 7:00 pm; Wednesday/Thursday : 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; and Friday : 8:00 am - 2:00 pm. The Grad Faire was held from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on May 2 and May 3. Caps and gowns could be purchased up to 5:00 pm at the Bookstore on Thursday, May 31. The purchase price for the student regalia package was $78.66 (includes tax).
TICKETS were limited to 5 per graduate. These were for guests since graduates did not need a ticket. All attendees, including infants/small children, were required to have a ticket to be admitted into the gymnasium (no exceptions). Limited tickets were be available on a first-come, first-serve basis for overflow seating in the Performing Arts Center (Building 54) where the ceremony was live-streamed. GRADUATION ANNOUNCEMENTS priced beginning at $20.00, could be purchased beginning May 2 at the Grad Faire.
HONOR CORDS could be worn at commencement only by students with a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or better, based on completion of degree requirements for August 2017 and December 2017 graduates. June 2018 graduate honors were based on degree requirements completed through Fall 2017. Honor cords could be purchased at the RAMS Bookstore.
DIPLOMAS - Graduates will be notified when their degrees are available for pickup. Please be sure Admissions & Records has been informed of correct mailing and emailing addresses. Additionally, any library or financial holds must be cleared.
CERTIFICATES are mailed on an ongoing basis as requirements are completed.
GRADUATES AND GUESTS WITH DISABILITIES - Persons with disabilities requiring special seating needed to be prepared to show a CA ID, Military Veteran, or State-issued drivers license documenting disability. They were asked to arrive at least 45 minutes prior to the ceremony for appropriate accommodations. They were allowed one (1) attendant if necessary. If they needed accommodation for a disability, we asked that you notify us by May 11. Interpreting services were available for the deaf and hearing impaired.
