Information About Dropping Classes

We want to make sure you have accurate information about when you can drop a class and how it may affect your transcript.

✅ Drop Without a “W”

You may drop a class on or before 20% of the course and it will not appear on your transcript.

The class will be removed with no record of enrollment.
You may still be responsible for any applicable fees.

⚠️ Drop With a “W”

If you drop a class after 20% of the course but before 75% of the course, a “W” (Withdrawal) will appear on your transcript.

A “W” does not affect your GPA.
However, it may impact financial aid, academic progress, or future enrollment if you accumulate multiple withdrawals.

🚫 After 75% of the Course

You cannot drop the class after the 75% point.

If you remain enrolled past this deadline, your instructor must assign a final grade.
Not officially dropping may result in an F or FW (Unofficial Withdrawal).

Important Reminders

Do not rely on your instructor to drop you. It is your responsibility to officially withdraw by the deadline.
Check your specific class deadlines in the Self-Service.
Students may be dropped for lack of attendance or other reasons defined by the California Education Code.
